How to make pine scented candles?
Making pine-scented candles at home is a rewarding and straightforward process.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you create your own pine-scented candles.
Materials Needed
  1. Wax: Soy wax or beeswax are good choices.
  2. Wicks: Pre-waxed wicks with tabs.
  3. Containers: Glass jars, tins, or any heat-resistant container.
  4. Pine Essential Oil: For the pine scent.
  5. Double Boiler: For melting the wax.
  6. Thermometer: To monitor the temperature of the wax.
  7. Stirring Stick: For mixing.
  8. Adhesive: To stick the wick to the bottom of the container.
  9. Wick Centering Device: To keep the wick centered as the wax cools.
  10. Optional Additives: Dye for coloring the candles, other essential oils for blended scents.

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Containers:
    • Clean the containers thoroughly and ensure they are dry.
    • Attach the wicks to the bottom of the containers using adhesive or hot glue. Make sure the wick is centered.

  2. Melt the Wax:
    • Set up a double boiler by placing a smaller pot inside a larger pot filled with water. Heat the water to a gentle boil.
    • Add the wax to the smaller pot and stir occasionally until completely melted. Use a thermometer to monitor the temperature. Soy wax should be melted to about 170°F (77°C).

  3. Add Pine Essential Oil:
    • Once the wax is melted, remove it from heat. Allow it to cool slightly, to about 150°F (65°C), before adding the pine essential oil. This helps prevent the oil from evaporating due to high heat.
    • Add 1 ounce (approximately 30 ml) of pine essential oil per pound of wax. Adjust the amount based on your scent strength preference.
    • Stir thoroughly to ensure the oil is evenly distributed throughout the wax.

  4. Add Optional Color:
    • If you want to color your candles, add dye flakes or liquid dye to the melted wax. Stir well to ensure the color is evenly distributed.

  5. Pour the Wax:
    • Carefully pour the wax into your prepared containers. Leave a small amount of space at the top of the container.
    • Use a wick centering device to keep the wick straight and centered as the wax cools and solidifies.
